It’s almost been a week since my iPhone 3GS completely crashed. It would display the apple logo and go blank again. Apparently it was due to a RockApp/Cydia update and it seems like I’m not the only one:

I personally didn’t follow this fix and therefore cannot fully endorse it.

I was careless and grew impatient not being able to use my iPhone. Therefore, I restored it to firmware 3.1.3 which is currently un-lockable and un-tetherable but was still able to jailbreak it with the spirit jailbreak. In the process, I lost about 10 months worth of photos and videos. I didn’t realized I had un-checked the photo sync until it was too late. I had no backup and I had erased my only copies on my phone.

I definitely learned from this experience and hope nobody ever goes through the same. I will certainly think about backing up data on my iPhone more often than 10 months. =P
